Buying a home is an exciting milestone, and it’s important to stay safe throughout the process. Here are a few tips to help you stay safe as a first-time home buyer:

Do your research:
Before you buy, research the neighbourhood, the local crime rate, the builder’s reputation, and the proximity of schools, grocery, and other amenities.

Get pre-approved:
This is the very first step in the buying process. Before making an offer, get pre-approved so you know what you can afford. Keep in mind the extra costs associated with being a homeowner!

Hire a home inspector:
An inspector can identify issues with the home before you purchase it and can save you from any potential money pits.

Inspect the title:
Have a title search done to make sure there are no liens or other issues that could prevent you from taking ownership of the home.

Emergency fund:
Make sure to have an emergency fund in case of any unexpected repairs. There might be a few surprising expenses that come with being a homeowner that you may not expect.
