Today we’ll be exploring the Long Sault Conservation Area in Bowmanville! This area has 18km of trails. Nestled in the heart of the Oak Ridges Moraine, Long Sault Conservation Area is the largest conservation area owned and managed by Central Lake Ontario Conservation. The area includes close to 400 hectares of mature forest, plantation, wetland and meadow. If you walk down the Cottontail Rabbit Trail, you might notice a big hill on your left. This is a great lookout spot with some beautiful views. Long Sault is a popular destination for locals, especially during the fall months when the leaves are changing colours. This area is a great choice if you’re looking to get outside and get some exercise during the lockdown. However, be careful as the trails are not maintained during the winter!
